School Uniform

BGS Uniform

Our uniform can be purchased from Uniform Direct, here

School uniform provides a sense of community and encourages pride in being a member of Bourne Grammar School. Our current uniform, introduced in September 2024, is gender-neutral, with a shirt and tie for all students and the option of either trousers or a skirt.

Our School Uniform and PE Kit Policy has been revised in line with current legislation and Department for Education guidance. The policy limits the number of compulsory BGS-branded items, giving families greater flexibility and helping to keep costs manageable while maintaining a smart and consistent appearance.

The compulsory BGS-branded items are the blazer, tie, red PE polo shirt and, where a skirt is chosen, the BGS skirt. Most other uniform and PE kit items may be purchased from any retailer, provided they meet the specifications in our Uniform Guide.

Students are expected to wear the correct school uniform and PE kit at all times. Uniform standards are monitored regularly by Form Tutors and Heads of Year. Full details can be found in our Uniform Guide and School Uniform and PE Kit Policy.

Transitional arrangements

Students who were already wearing the previous uniform and PE kit when the current versions were introduced may continue to do so until the end of Year 11. Families are not expected to replace items that still fit and remain in good condition.

Where replacement items are needed, families may need to purchase the current versions, as availability of the previous uniform and PE kit is limited. Where possible, we would prefer students to wear either the previous or current versions consistently, although a combination of the two will be accepted during the transition.

Purchasing uniform

BGS-branded items can be purchased online from Uniform Direct or in person from Downtown Grantham, where students can try on items before purchasing.

Second-hand uniform and financial support

The School will make second-hand uniform available to families as stock becomes available. There are also established Facebook groups, run independently by parents, through which second-hand uniform may be offered.

Families who need support with uniform costs are encouraged to contact [email protected] in confidence.
