Anti-bullying
At Bourne Grammar School we are committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all our students.
Bullying behaviour is repeated, negative behaviour intended to upset, exclude, or make someone feel unsafe. This can take different forms, including verbal (unkind words), indirect (spreading rumours, online abuse), and physical behaviour. A key message shared with students is the distinction between banter and bullying behaviour; while friendly teasing among close friends can be harmless, if someone is not in on the joke or feels uncomfortable, it becomes bullying.
Students are also reminded that any form of discrimination based on identity or protected characteristics is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. We encourage all students to be upstanders — to stand up for others and report any bullying behaviour they witness.
To support students, there are clear reporting procedures in place and students are being reminded that if they experience or witness bullying behaviour they can:
- Speak to a trusted adult at School or at home
- Approach a member of the Pastoral Team
- Use our ‘Speak Out’ form to report. This is accessible via QR codes displayed around the School, and here on the poster attached.
For additional support outside of School, students can access free, 24/7 text support via The Diana Award Crisis Messenger by texting DA to 85258.
