Careers Week 2025

During March the school held its annual Careers Week to celebrate all things Careers.
We were delighted to welcome a number of visitors into school to give insight into their jobs and industries. To start the week, colleagues from Burghley House spoke to year 11 students about the role they played and the opportunities available at the house including a focus on rural land management and surveying.
Year 10 students then attended a presentation on the wide range of roles in the NHS talking to students about roles they may never have heard of including medical physicist, operating department practitioner and occupational therapist.
Year 7 found out about careers in the food industry in workshops run by Bakkavor, learning about allergens and food technical roles (some enjoyed getting dressed up in PPE even including the hair and beard nets!). Anglian Water then spent the day with our Year 8s setting them the challenge of designing and then constructing a water supply system whilst learning about different opportunities in the water industry. Fortunately the students were good at meeting the brief so there weren’t too many leaks!
Year 9 then had a visit from the University of Sheffield who ran a University Challenge workshop as they found out more about university, both the academic and social aspects whilst competing to answer a number of challenges.
Thank you to all our visitors who ran such engaging sessions to support our students in finding out more about the world of work and higher education.
