DofE Silver and Gold Planning Days

The DofE Silver and Gold groups have had a busy weekend prepping for their expeditions that will run over the Easter break.

All groups attended school on Saturday 8th March to plan their expedition routes and undertook some additional training to ensure they are ready to take part.

Silver groups planned their 3-day expedition in the Rutland area which will start on Saturday 5th April.  The Golds planned their 4-day expedition in the Yorkshire Dales (starting Wednesday 9th April), and decided whether or not to negotiate the local 3 Peaks – Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-Ghent.  Most are!

Additionally, the Gold teams took part in a full day of First Aid training on Sunday to ensure they can look after each other whilst walking in remote areas.  They practised CPR, using a defibrillator, managing bleeding as well as other skills that may be required (though hopefully not!) whilst they are walking in the hills.

Well done teams, the positive energy over the weekend was fantastic and I hope you are all looking forward to your expeditions!  Good Luck!
