U16 Badminton Doubles Tournament

10 boys and 8 girls played in the U16 Badminton tournament on Monday 7 October

This event was  held on Monday 7th October and 10 boys and 8 girls  entered, many of whom have been trying to win the title best in key stage for many years. The boys event was very close and all games were played for a set period of time which resulted in high pressure points and some games being won in the dying seconds of a match. All pairs played each other so the best of the best had to overcome all opponents.

Competitors:

Charles Bomford and Ed Amos

Zaid  Thalangara and Ayo Karim

Akshith  Pandian and Ali Abdullah

Basil  Senny and Haad Azam

The final match was Charles and Ed vs Haad and Basil and it started with Charles dominating but Haad and Basil pulled it back and then took a narrow lead and just as Charles and Ed were coming back into the game the sands of time ran out! Basil and Haad walked out of the sports hall a little more proud and taller than when they came in. Well Done boys.

The girls event was equally as competitive as the previous winners of several years were all entered together. Zahra Ravji and Mary Pepper were facing Poppy McLearnon and Shiksha Kaur and Alice Barratt and Fay Scott were competing with Honor Moore and Kiki Timmins. All girls played each other and the games were tense and full of power smashes and fast net interfaces.

Superb skills by all but the winners were the Racket queens Shiksha and Poppy.
