Welcome from the Headteacher

A warm welcome to Bourne Grammar School: a special place and a special community that I am very fortunate to lead. We seek to enable our students to become young adults who are respectful, ambitious, and determined to succeed; who have the resilience to bounce back from disappointment and who are both honest and kind. I am delighted to observe that, every day in this busy school, I see these qualities in abundance.

Staff at BGS are confident and academically skilled. We are proud to be fully staffed with subject specialists who build positive relationships with students and thereby help build independence and self-esteem through intellectual challenge. We all work very hard to understand the needs of each of our students individually and how best to support and nurture their progress.

Our pastoral care is excellent, and we constantly review how we can provide the best level of support in an ever-changing, and increasingly challenging, world. We pride ourselves in welcoming our students with a smile as they walk through the gate each morning, and maintaining that same level of positivity throughout a busy day. Those who need support, whether that be specific advice and guidance or just a quiet space and a cup of tea, find they have many staff on hand to provide the help they need. Our excellent attendance statistics show that students enjoy coming to school here, and the effort we put into securing a safe, supportive and caring environment pays significant dividends for all.

We are also champions of excellence in oracy so that our well-qualified leavers are also able to present their ideas, engage in an active conversation and not be shy to raise and ask questions.
