DofE Success – Gold Award Achievement – Jessica Burton (Year 13)

Huge congratulations to Jess who recently completed her DofE Gold Award. This amazing achievement has demanded commitment and determination over the last 12+ months as Jess participated in new activities and developed old skills too.
Jess has completed all 3 DofE Award levels. She has volunteered for Werrington Brownies groups throughout the years, completing her Young Leaders Qualification to become a valued member of the team and much respected session leader with the children.
To fulfil her Physical section requirements, Jess has blended her desire to improve her fitness with the fun of Zumba dance classes. For her Skills section, Jess decided to learn to cook so that she can prepare her own meals when she moves to university later this year.
The Gold Expeditions took place in the Yorkshire Dales (April) and the Lake District (July) where Jess was part of a very strong team successfully navigating boggy moorland and craggy hill tops whilst enduring all weather conditions, from Easter rain and cold to summer heat.
For her DofE Residential, Jess travelled to Swanage, Dorset to participate in an outdoor activities course that involved a variety of activities including; coasteering, climbing, various paddle sports, tunnelling, target sports, Dorset Waterpark and high ropes. Jess met many likeminded individuals coming together to enjoy camping and sports.
Jess should be very proud of her DofE success, I certainly am! It has been a pleasure to support her though all 3 levels, well done and have a fabulous day at the Palace when it comes. Best wishes from the DofE Team!
