Open Evening - 16 September 2021 - CANCELLED

16 SEPTEMBER 2021 OPEN EVENING - CANCELLED

Dear Parent/carer,

After a great deal of consideration, we have taken the difficult decision to cancel our upcoming Open Evening, scheduled for 16 September. This will now operate as a normal (full) school day instead, with lessons running until 15:35.

Our open evenings have historically been very well attended. Each year our staff and students look forward to welcoming over 1000 visitors to Bourne Grammar School at our Open Evenings, allowing prospective parents and carers to sample the very special atmosphere here.

We had hoped that the Summer Holidays along with increased vaccination uptake would result in a national downward trend in infection rates - unfortunately, this has not been the case. Having undertaken an extensive risk assessment, we do not feel confident that we would be able to put in place sufficient control measures to reduce the risks associated with Covid-19 to an acceptable level for students, visitors and staff, hence taking the decision to cancel the event.

We apologise for the disappointment that this will inevitably cause, but hope that parents and carers will be able to join us in person for a ‘live’ Open Evening in June 2022 should case numbers and the associated risk fall to an appropriate level later in the academic year. Further details of this event will be published on our website nearer to the time.

 Yours faithfully,
